At Valistus, we believe in the magic of storytelling and the power of literature to inspire, entertain, and enrich our lives. Litopia is a celebration of that belief, where you’ll have the chance to immerse yourselves in the enchanting realm of books alongside acclaimed authors and illustrators.

Interact with these literary luminaries as they share their tales and artistic creations, taking you on a journey through the wonders of storytelling and writing. Whether you’re a passionate reader, an aspiring writer, or simply curious about the creative process behind literature, there’s something for everyone at Litopia.

This event is for children from Year Group 1 to Year Group 9 (5 to 15 years) along with their parents.

Speakers

Andaleeb Wajid

Andaleeb Wajid is a hybrid author, having published more than 45 novels in the past 14 years. Andaleeb enjoys writing in a number of different genres such as young adult, romance, and horror. Andaleeb’s romance trilogy Jasmine Villa Series was published by Westland in February 2023. Her novel The Henna Start-up was published by Duckbill (Penguin Random House) in December 2023 and she has an upcoming YA horror novel with Harper Collins in 2024.

Ashok Rajagopalan

Ashok Rajagopalan, a Chennai-based illustrator and writer, is best known for the Gajapati Kulapati series of picture books. Since 1989, he has created numerous funny stories for books, magazines and comics, believing in the power of laughter as the best medicine and advocating that anyone can learn to draw or write.

Bijal Vachharajani

When Bijal Vachharajani is not reading a children’s book, she is writing or editing one. She is the author of multiple planet-friendly books including A Cloud Called Bhura, Savi and the Memory Keeper, When Fairyland Lost Its Magic and Kitten Trouble. She’s now a climate worrier.

Menaka Raman

As a child Menaka Raman wrote far-fetched stories about birthday parties, water parks and floating cake disasters. Since then, her life has been a series of fortunate events that led her far away from becoming a software engineer and set her back on the path of writing. She has written picture books, short stories, chapter books and two novels for middle grade readers for Pratham Books, Talking Cub, Penguin Random House India, Duckbill and Scholastic.

Rajiv Eipe

Rajiv Eipe is an animator and illustrator of picture books and comics. He has worked on children’s books with various publishers and has animated short films for television, film and the web. He lives in Bangalore with his family consisting of two cats, one dog and one (other) human.

Shubha Das

Shubha is a professional storyteller, story educator, facilitator, and auditory performer, with a heart tuned to the giggles and guffaws of children. Storytelling happened to her as a professional hazard and she has since shared myriad stories with children and children at heart. Her storytelling journey is an enchanting blend of movement, music, art, origami, yoga, and guided imagery. With captivating performances in schools, colleges, libraries, and bookstores nationwide, she has created enduring memories for audiences of all ages. A self-trained artist, she enjoys painting her stories with linguistic hues and calls herself “A story under construction”.
