Curriculum

Early childhood is the commencement of school for the age group 2-6 and a crucial time to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The Early Years Foundation Programme comprises Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Foundation Stage 1, and Foundation Stage 2. We aim to provide a learning environment that facilitates play-based learning along with carefully planned opportunities that allow children to explore, create, and learn through exciting, stimulating, interactive, and accessible resources. Our Early Years curriculum is influenced by the leading pedagogical methods globally with key focus on the early years foundation stage of UK. The curriculum focuses on age-appropriate milestones that students need to meet to gain in-depth knowledge.

Our holistic approach aims towards developing fine motor, gross motor, spatial awareness, personal, and social skills. Our inquiry approach allows children to explore and learn phonics and math concepts through games, toys, LEGOs, and different materials. We further expand on the foundations by letting students learn to read and write and develop math skills like addition, subtraction, measurement, patterns, and data handling.

Learning opportunities designed in the classroom are experiential, multisensorial, and hands-on. They help students develop a contextual understanding of the world around them. The EYFS curriculum focuses on an integrated approach to learning where the learning outcomes of different subjects like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies are integrated into cross curricular projects.

Our curriculum is divided into the following components:

Using phonics as a medium, children are introduced to language and literacy from the age of 3. By means of this multisensory approach, students learn to use their blending technique to read and write. This enables oral communication, basic listening and speaking, and reading and comprehending simple texts and writings with simple sentences. Different genres of reading and writing are introduced, and reading strategies are incorporated to strengthen listening and comprehension skills.

Learning mathematics involves providing children with opportunities to develop and strengthen cognitive skills, enhance relevant concepts, and transfer these learned skills into practical situations in real life. Strands covered in the curriculum are number systems, measurement, patterns and function, shape and space, and data handling. The children develop their proficiency in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems, and describing shapes, spaces, and measures. Sometimes, these concepts are integrated into the projects to develop contextual understanding and its application in real-life situations.

Understanding the world directs learners to make sense of their physical world and surrounding communities through varied opportunities, thereby allowing them to explore, observe, and find out about different people, places, technology, and the environment.

Our arts curriculum allows children to explore and play using a wide range of media and materials, as well as provides opportunities and encouragement for students to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings through a variety of activities involving art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design and technology.

Physical Development

Physical development is an important part of the early years curriculum. Through play and project-based learning, children develop their gross and fine motor skills. Hands-on activities, group work, and projects give children the opportunity to develop themselves physically.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) supports children to have a positive sense of themselves, respect for others, social skills, emotional well-being, and a positive disposition to learning.
