Breaking and Making Light: The Science of the

Our Year Group 5 learners explored how light travels in straight lines and how shadows form when an object blocks light. Using a STEM kit, they experimented with the position of the light source, object and screen to observe how shadow size and shape change.
They also learned about Umbra and Penumbra, discovering that shadows grow larger when objects move closer to the light source and smaller when they move farther away.
Through this hands-on exploration, learners developed a deeper understanding of light and shadow - watching science unfold right before their eyes.
