Learners from the Visual Arts Club embarked on a creative journey into the world of block printing, exploring how everyday materials can be transformed into artistic tools. The purpose of this project was to introduce students to the process of block printing using found and repurposed objects, encouraging both creativity and sustainability.
Using pieces of wood as bases and layering cardboard and string to form unique patterns, learners discovered how texture and relief influence the final print. In this stage, they experimented with printing their handmade blocks on fabric, observing how pressure, color, and surface texture affect their designs.
This hands-on exploration not only nurtured creative expression and design thinking but also gave learners an appreciation for India’s rich block printing heritage, reimagining traditional techniques through modern materials and perspectives.
A perfect blend of art, innovation, and cultural appreciation!
