International Pi Day, celebrated worldwide on March 14th, commemorates the significance of this mathematical constant. At Valistus, students embraced the occasion with a plethora of activities centred around circles and the concept of pi.
Year Group 1 students delved into understanding pi's relation to circles, starting their day by painting vibrant pebbles adorned with the pi symbol. FS2 students explored the utility of Venn diagrams in categorising herbivores and carnivores.
Engaging in terminology like circumference, radius, and diameter, students in Year Groups 3 and 5 enjoyed crossword puzzles and created posters celebrating pi. Year Group 4 students crafted circle links, while Year Group 6 students investigated the constant ratio of circumference to diameter across circles of varying sizes.
Year Group 7 students played Pi Day Bingo, expanding their knowledge of pi and its historical context, while Year Group 9 students explored the application of pi in various geometric shapes, solving intriguing mysteries along the way.
Beyond math lessons, art and design, physical education, and dance classes incorporated Pi Day activities, making it a fun-filled day of mathematical exploration at Valistus!
