EYFS Outdoor Learning: Seasonal Sensory Exploration Through Tree Bark Rubbing

As we embrace the wonders of each changing season at Valistus, we embarked on a creative journey to capture the essence of nature's shifts. This time, our exploration led us to create a unique lantern, illustrating the beautiful transformation trees undergo with the seasons.

Using the technique of bark rubbing, our EYFS students dived deep into the world of trees, uncovering the myriad patterns and textures that lie beneath. This hands-on activity not only highlighted the distinct characteristics of different trees but also offered a moment of reflection on the natural world around us.

As they crafted their lanterns, the children engaged in sensory exploration, fine-tuned their motor skills, and enjoyed the freshness of outdoor learning. Through comparing the diverse barks, they developed a keen eye for detail and a deeper appreciation for nature’s artistry.
