Health and Safety
Young children are like flowers; they blossom and spread their goodness when nurtured and cared for. At Valistus, we value every child, and their safety is our top priority. As the children in the EYFS are young and vulnerable to risks, we have specific policies in place to provide a quality and safe learning environment.
Our leadership team has established well-defined health and safety, first aid, and social media policies, which are regularly reviewed and updated to maintain their relevance and effectiveness. These policies cover a wide range of topics, including children's health, hygiene, and nutrition, staff and student behavior, safety and first aid, and emotional and physical well-being.
At Valistus, every adult who interacts with children on campus is responsible for their safety and well-being. We conduct quality training throughout the academic year to ensure effective implementation of our safeguarding policies and procedures. We ensure that our staff, both old and new recruits, thoroughly read and understand these documents to identify any potential risks and take timely action to prevent harm to children.
We also conduct safety awareness programmes for children through age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, flashcards, and pictures that cover topics like challenging behaviour, good and bad touch, handling peer pressure, balanced food, healthy habits and body hygiene.
As Alfie Kohn once said, "If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to trust, share their feelings, and grow." We strongly believe in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children to help them achieve their full potential."
