International Day of Peace in EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) was celebrated with joy and harmony. All the students were dressed in white to symbolise the importance of this colour. In Western cultures for many centuries, the colour white has been used to convey a sense of purity, cleanliness, and peacefulness. The students fashioned the white colour clothes to show their support for peace and non-violence.
The day of the celebration began with a circle-time discussion about the meaning of peace. Students created peace signs, coloured doves, and crafted various artworks for displays. Even the tiny pre-nursery students participated by making handprint peace signs.
In connection with emotional development, the students reflected on and responded to many questions, such as, "What brings them peace?" Their sincere and thoughtful answers showed the importance of such activities, which allow children to express their true ideas and opinions on the concept and show us their deep understanding of peace.
